Grounded in Care
We say it all of the time, but our people are what sets us apart. We value those gestures big and small that demonstrate that we are Grounded in Care. One such example is last summer when our Plumbing PM Travis Roush stayed after work for three hours to help our Plumbing Intern Eric Cortes fix his car so that he could safely make the drive back to Cal Poly. Another example is from last week when Spencer Reese and Cyrus Patel were working in San Francisco and saw a couple of homeless guys out in the freezing cold. Spencer grabbed a blanket from his truck and handed it to one of the guys. Cyrus gave another guy one of his WAM Carhartt jackets. In these real moments when no one is looking is what makes us grounded in care.
Since 2020, at the end of the year during the holiday season, to honor our clients for their valued business, we give back to our local communities on our clients’ behalf. We care for the cities around us locally by being a good neighbor. Part of that is supporting reputable organizations who are on the ground helping and serving others.
This year we made $5,000 donations to four deserving organizations. Two serve the Menlo Park region and the other two serve Alameda county which includes Union City. Here are some important results from the efforts of these non-profits:
- Second Harvest of Silicon Valley served at least 450,000 people each month last year.
- Job Train in Menlo Park served over 3,100 individuals last year with job training leading to meaningful employment.
- Alameda County Community Food Bank distributing enough food to serve 60,000 people daily.
- Union City Family Center served approximately 5,000 clients in this last year with academic support, health, and nutrition all focused on helping local students and their families.
Thank you to the employees at WAM who continue to make our business successful. Your care at work and with our clients make it possible for us to reach out with care to the surrounding communities.
Pay it Forward
In 2022, we also donated $ 6,000 to various employee-selected charities as part of our “Pay it Forward” Campaign. Thank you to those employees selected for giving us the charity to which we donated $500.00 each month.
Fight for Air Stair Climb
This year, the Donna’s WAMers team is the largest we have ever had at 60 members strong. We are climbing in honor of Donna Mroz, a coworker that was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2015 and lost her fight in 2018. Donna is our namesake and our inspiration. If she could fight for over three years after being told she had 3 to 6 months, we can do our part and climb to support the American Lung Association.
