2020 was a year of firsts for many. In a way, it was hard for us all to feel connected. But this is a group you can’t keep apart. To stay connected, our marketing team explored virtual events as a way for us to celebrate together safely. Here are a few synopses of our past virtual events:
Virtual All Hands Meeting – We recapped our year, enjoyed videos that dove into our three core values, and ended the meeting with some excellent trivia!
Driven by Innovation, Gingerbread Contest – Participants could win three categories; Most Innovative, Best Pitch, and Best Presentation. Dona Neilson swept the contest and won all three with her perfectly executed gingerbread lighthouse.
Snoopy’s Dog House Cubicle Decorating Contest – Inspired by the movie, ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas,’ All were encouraged to decorate their workspace with holiday cheer. Dawn Hahn came in first, Gaelan Day in second, and Dona Neilson in third!
Virtual Cooking Class with Matt Pheil – WAMers joined Chef Matt in making Chicken Balontine with Asparagus and Marsala Reduction. All participants received a beautiful bottle of olive oil and a spoon with the Western Allied logo on it. Participants also sent in photos of their dishes. Steve Branch’s dish won the prize of a Chef’s Knife!
Virtual Annual Safety Meeting – This year was our first virtual annual safety meeting. We had all our company members join an MS Teams meeting this year. We were very fortunate to have the American Heart Association as a guest speaker and got to watch some fantastic safety videos. We were able to honor those who had big anniversaries in a special way this year. The Marketing Team and Harvey LaFlamme collaborated to create an award fabricated from our new laser cutter. (Thank you to our BIM folks who helped translate our drawings into usable files!)
