Employee Highlight featuring: Scott Lint, Construction Foreman
In California you often meet people who have moved here from somewhere else. But Scott Lint is a genuine San Francisco Bay Area native. Following high school, he ventured down south to San Diego to complete his college education. During his summer breaks he worked in construction and discovered this was the field where he wanted to begin his career. Upon graduating he went into the apprenticeship program through the local 206 union. One of his most notable projects was working on Jacobs Medical Center, a 510,000 sq. foot teaching hospital at UCSD, where he developed an appreciation for ground up construction. Scott remarked, “It is particularly rewarding to participate in the whole construction process from start to finish. It is a great sense of accomplishment.”
After developing a strong base of experience over eight years in the San Diego area, Scott met our Sheet Metal Superintendent, Randy Freitas, and their discussions lead to Scott joining our company in 2017. As a Foreman, he sees his responsibility is to make sure his crew is successful. One way he does this, is continual advanced planning a few weeks out for what will be needed in the next stage of their job. He assures the crew is prepared with materials and information that helps them to work efficiently. Also, at times different workers rotate into the team. To help the team work smoothly, he helps match the right skill set with parts of the job that are the best fit for individuals, so together they can be successful. He feels working as a team is the most important goal, therefore together they fix any errors that happen, and they also share in the accomplishments they achieve together. Randy describes Scott as “a future long-term employee.” Because he has found that Scott is, “easy to work with, communicates well, and is dedicated to doing quality work.”
Getting to know people authentically over the course of working together in the field has been one of his favorite aspects of the job. Scott and his wife have two children under the age of five and as a rookie Dad he receives great parenting advice by talking with those who have older children. When he is not at work, the family is usually out and about having adventures together and he enjoys watching all their first-time experiences as they grow up. One of their favorite vacation spots is Lake Tahoe and he and his wife are huge baseball fans and follow the San Francisco Giants.
