Description of Position
The mission of this role is to sell, oversee, and manage all aspects of mechanical (HVAC) projects to ensure the satisfaction of the client. WAM is dedicated to teamwork, grounded in care, and driven by innovation. Here are some key responsibilities and goals associated with the position.
WAM Mechanical Department Summary:
- Most of WAM construction work is design/build (75+%)
- We have a mixture of senior project managers, project managers, project engineers and project coordinators. Each of these team members report to specific project executives and the goal is that the PX will generate adequate work to keeps staff busy and develop the optimal team dynamic. We have a teamwork approach where staff will report to other project executives for projects based on best fit and availability. These staffing decisions are made collaboratively during regular project staffing meetings.
- We view the client experience as a long-term partnership. Although we desire to maximize profit, we want to be fair and reasonable so that we continue to be the trusted partner. We expect all project executives to operate with this understanding.

Salary: $190,000 to $250,000 per year
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Sell and oversee a book of mechanical (HVAC) work.
- Reports to the Construction Department Lead and regularly interfaces with the president, WAM construction sales team, construction project management staff, engineering, detailing, accounting, and other departments.
- LMA (Lead, Manage, and Accountability)
- Lead the pre-construction, project management, and integrate with the field personnel for your project.
- Manage the team that will oversee the mechanical work sold from pre-construction through completion.
- Accountability – Take ownership of the book of work and eventually the project management team that report to you.
- Develop marketing plan for target clients. This will be a mixture of additional support for existing clients and development of new clients.
- Hire, fire, and promote as necessary to manage book of work with input from WAM executive leadership team.
- Maximize return on investments, maintaining relationships with our existing clients and any new clients that might be developed.
- If there is an opportunity for plumbing, controls, and service on mechanical projects, pass those opportunities to the respective leaders of those groups. You will not be compensated for this work and will be improving the health of the company by helping us capture this work.
- Work with Construction operations and Project Managers on WIP (Work in Process) on a monthly basis.
- Understand, implement and manage WAM processes and procedures.
- Motivate and inspire work ethic according to the Western Allied Core Value system

Qualifications/Requirements

- At least 12 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Strong understanding of the mechanical construction business, especially with design build projects and life sciences
- Able to learn and utilize construction software platforms
- Outstanding organizational skills and able to manage time appropriately to stay on top of tasks and deadlines
- Able to be a team player, but also work independently
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage project teams effectively.
